Research Topic: The History of Songwriting in the Church

Songwriting in the Church is a crucial element of the history of the Church. Even predating the institution of the Christian Church through Old Testament account, the use of songwriting originates further back than human history can account for. Even when it comes to musical style, there are few mysteries that we have so little knowledge of its origin. This overview of what songwriting and musical creation has played throughout the history of the Church proves the importance of the practice in how the Church has grown, thrived, and succeeded over the last 2,000 years.

I realized it wasn't just the world who had bought into the lie that followers of Christ are reliant on their buildings, but so many who claim Christ as their savior have as well! I thought about how so many people wake up on Sunday to "go to church" instead of "go to worship". I realized the numerous amounts of Christians who haven't matured enough in faith to realize that they are the Church.

In what way did Jesus serve? The most notable that I can think of is dying on the cross as payment for our sins, something that you and I can’t emulate very well. However, the next best thing is sharing that Truth with people, loving them in such a deep way that we could think of nothing more loving than to tell them the way that our savior has served us, and sharing the Gospel with them.
